The place where Humanity’s stories of real people and events continue to be told together with Environmental concerns around the world.

In the 21st Century and new Millennium, Nations great and small must – as never before – intently focus on the full spectrum of Humanitarian and Environmental concerns that affect every facet of life globally.

Although the world has become smaller, more technologically advanced and interconnected, bigger and unprecedented challenges  are constant reminders that our world must be "secured, improved and sustained"  far into the future for all of Humanity including our planetary environment.

Welcome to EPACHA Foundation – Phase II:

EPACHA Foundation's Statement for the Year 2025

is an "imperative reiteration" of EPACHA's 2024 message

with hopes that Nations move forward with historic

progress that benefits the Whole of Humanity &

Humanity's Life-sustaining Environment.

May 2025 be a historic year that ushers in

a promising pathway towards "global

peace" with every provisioning

that adequately ensures

wholesome habitations -

including the compassionate comforts

of healing & healthiness for those of

Humanity yet suffering the horrific

pains of impoverishment and

hunger while steeped

deep in quagmires: gripped in the

inhumane hostilities of destructive wars

Around the World. As Leaders great and

small realize the crucial need to embark

upon a pathway that ensures a promising

future of global security, may prudency

be that compelling influence that sparks concerted efforts to

maintain, develop and peacefully sustain

"just and lawful forms of governance."

With that shared understanding, a

genuine show of "environmental

stewardship activities" is

surely worthy of securing

life on Earth that must proceed with

the full spectrum of all that is needed to

develop, enhance and sustain the Human

experience NOW - and for generations to

come. May the community of Nations

be that collective global catalyst

that prudently prepares to

propel the World forward

in a positive direction,

diligently safeguarding Human Rights

with a quality of life that

upholds Human dignity for

PEOPLES OF

ALL NATIONS.

US Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield was the first to speak after the vote, describing the resolution as “a glimmer of hope amongst a sea of unimaginable suffering”.

She said that since the start of the conflict, the US has worked tirelessly to alleviate the humanitarian crisis, to get lifesaving assistance into Gaza, to get hostages out of the enclave, and to push for the protection of innocent civilians and humanitarian workers, and to work towards a lasting peace.

“Today this Council made clear that all hostages must be released immediately and unconditionally and that humanitarian groups must be able to access hostages, including for medical visits,” she said.

The Council made clear that all parties must respect international humanitarian law and that civilian, humanitarian and UN facilities, as well as humanitarian personnel and medical personnel, must be protected, she added.

While encouraged that the Council spoke out on the humanitarian crisis, Ms. Thomas-Greenfield said the US was “appalled” that it was again unable to condemn the horrific terrorist attacks committed by Hamas on 7 October.

Special Announement

WHO comments on United States’

announcement of intent to withdraw

from the World Health Organization

21 January 2025

WHO GENEVA 1ab.webp

Courtesy, United Nations /WHO

The World Health Organization regrets the announcement that the United States of America intends to withdraw from the Organization.

WHO plays a crucial role in protecting the health and security of the world’s people, including Americans, by addressing the root causes of disease, building stronger health systems, and detecting, preventing and responding to health emergencies, including disease outbreaks, often in dangerous places where others cannot go.

The United States was a founding member of WHO in 1948 and has participated in shaping and governing WHO’s work ever since, alongside 193 other Member States, including through its active participation in the World Health Assembly and Executive Board. For over seven decades, WHO and the USA have saved countless lives and protected Americans and all people from health threats.

Together, we ended smallpox, and together we have brought polio to the brink of eradication. American institutions have contributed to and benefited from membership in WHO.

With the participation of the United States and other Member States, WHO has over the past 7 years implemented the largest set of reforms in its history, to transform our accountability, cost-effectiveness, and impact in countries. This work continues.

We hope the United States will reconsider and we look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue to maintain the partnership between the USA and WHO, for the benefit of the health and well-being of millions of people around the globe.

  UPDATES: 2025

Ukraine Zaporizhzya Nuclear Power Station

30 January 2025

Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi 1a.jpg

Image-Text Courtesy, United Nations / IAEA

-

Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi will travel to Ukraine next week for high-level meetings in Kyiv, in which the ongoing efforts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to help prevent a nuclear accident during the military conflict will be discussed.

It will be the 11th mission to Ukraine led personally by the Director General since the conflict began almost three years ago, demonstrating the IAEA’s unwavering commitment to assist Ukraine in ensuring nuclear safety and security.

As long as this horrific war continues, the IAEA will remain present and stay active, focused on doing everything we can to support nuclear safety and security in extremely challenging circumstances. As the overall situation is still precarious and fragile, our work there remains essential,” Director General Grossi said ahead of the visit to the Ukrainian capital on 4 February.

Over the past week, the IAEA teams present at Ukraine’s nuclear power plants (NPPs) have continued to report on the persistent risks the facilities are facing, with numerous indications of military activity near the sites.

At the Zaporizhzhya NPP (ZNPP), the IAEA team heard explosions daily coming from outside the plant, including multiple explosions at a near distance this morning. There was no damage reported to the plant itself.

Highlighting persistent challenges related to the availability of off-site power, the ZNPP’s sole remaining 750 kilovolt (kV) power line was disconnected on Wednesday due to the activation of a protection system, once again leaving the site dependent on its only remaining 330 kV back-up power line for the electricity it needs for reactor cooling and other essential nuclear safety functions.

The IAEA team has continued to conduct walkdowns across the ZNPP, including at the 750 kV open switchyard for the first time since late last year. The team members confirmed that maintenance on the voltage stabilizers had been completed and discussed future maintenance work with the ZNPP.

Last Friday, the team observed condensation – water drops on the floor and walls – within the containment building of reactor unit 5. The ZNPP confirmed it was aware of this issue, and the IAEA  team will look further into this in the coming days. The team assessed that the safety system rooms were in good order.

The IAEA teams at the other NPPs in Ukraine and the Chornobyl site have continued to report air raid alarms every day. At Khmelnytskyy, South Ukraine and Chornobyl, the teams were informed that drones had been detected at various distances from the sites. At the Khmelnytskyy NPP, the team had to shelter at the site on Tuesday morning.

At the South Ukraine NPP, the team was informed that one of the plant’s two 750 kV lines was disconnected on Wednesday morning due to unspecified military activities. As a result, one of its three reactors temporarily decreased power output before later the same day returning to nominal power.

The IAEA teams at Khmelnytskyy, Rivne, South Ukraine and Chornobyl all rotated over the past week. The team at the ZNPP will rotate next week.
